About Specialisations

Medtech is a broad discipline with many types of healthcare and medical solutions, from physical devices to software and diagnostic testing. There are nuances in each type of technology, and the path to market, regulatory challenges and business models vary greatly - that’s why we are introducing the Specialisations Courses. These 3 day courses drill into what it takes to build a business in each of these key sectors. Participants will walk away with crucial knowledge of their sector, connections to industry experts, and gain feedback from mentors on their product and business. 

These courses require you to come with an idea to work on - this can be very early stage or something you have been working on for some time. These courses will be available in person and online.

You will cover specific strategies and challenges associated with:

  • Regulatory and QMS pathways

  • Clinical trials planning

  • Reimbursement and Health Technology Assessment

  • Market entry models

  • Partnerships and exit models

  • Developing a comprehensive pitch deck

Medical Devices

This course is delivered in partnership with Mark Flynn (Global Edge Medtech Consulting) who holds 14 patent families, has commercialised 30+ medical devices and raised $50M+ in grant funding.

  • Navigate the specific challenges of manufacturing a medical device

  • Build relationships with partners, consumer advocates, advisory boards

  • Build a portfolio of work including a go to market strategy, pitch deck, regulatory pathway and clinical strategy

Diagnostics

This course is delivered in partnership with Australia's peak industry body representing manufacturers and importers of diagnostics, Pathology Technology Australia.

Pharmaceuticals & Therapeutics

This course is delivered in partnership with the Sydney Pharmacy School, one of the leading centres for pharmacy education in Australia, with an international reputation for research and innovation.

Software as a Medical Device

This course is delivered in partnership with ANDHealth, Australia's National Digital Health Initiative.
